The Berkeley resulted from the conversion of a vacant, fire-damaged building into a 51-unit rental complex providing new housing options for low-income residents. Completed in 1998, the Berkeley was the first building in New Jersey to receive the PSE&G Five-Star Energy Efficiency Program Award, and also received the Excellence in Housing Management Award from the New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Finance Agency.
